Our visit to Lyon got off to a bit of a tough start for certain members of the coaching staff...
But everyone found it to be a very charming and engaging city, especially those who ventured a bit further afield and explored some of the cultural pieces.
Looming over the city is the Basilica of Notre Dame de Fourviere, Built in 1872 it provides a magnificent view over the city (for anyone foolish enough to walk up the 580+ stairs to get there).
Located nearby was a Roman amphitheater dating back to 15 BC which had seating for up to 10,000 people! It was connected to a very funky museum that just happened to have a Lego display of roman times which was very fun to explore.
A tight squeeze in our hostel allowed everyone to get cozy and reconnect after spending the last 4 nights apart. A delicious dinner and some much needed sleep set us up for our big trip to Italia the next day. By all accounts Lyon had piqued the interest of many of the players and we wouldn't be surprised to hear that many had returned at some point in the future, another beauty of touring!
